24th Annual Bootheel Regional Judged Art Show


on display now at The Sikeston Depot ...

 

The 24th Annual Bootheel Regional Judged Art Show is currently on display now, and it is simply wonderful!

The show, which runs until June 28, showcases 35 regional adult artists and 95 works of art. Admission to the show is free, and the Depot is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

"World War II Sikeston American Legion Scrapbook"

A scrapbook filled with World War II-era history of the Sikeston American Legion and Legion Auxiliary has been given to the Sikeston Depot Museum. The scrapbook was compiled by Christine Campbell, a long-time member and former President of the Auxiliary. The scrapbook is now on display in the Depot's Sikeston Historical Room.

"Wood You See Something Beautiful"

Amazing wood sculptures made by the Southeast Missouri Wood Turners and Woodworkers Club.


 

"Bootheel Quilters Guild Quilt of the Month"

Each month a new quilt is displayed by a member of the Bootheel Quilters Guild.

Permanent Exhibits

 

The Mechanical Horse of Inventor J. OTTO HAHS

Patented in 1931 by local businessman, J. Otto Hahs, this display will be on exhibit for an indefinite period of time. Hahs' patent expired, but the mechanical animals live on around the world, from Gilley's famed bucking bulls, to the gentler department store horses for children.


The Story of WWII Marine, Mason Yarbrough

Mason Yarbrough was killed on Makin Island in 1942 during a raid by the famous Carlson's Raiders. In 2000 his remains were found by U.S. search and recovery team and returned to his family in Sikeston for a military funeral. [read more]
